Kirsten was born in the summer of '69 in Johannesburg, South Africa. She was adopted into a travelling family, and spent her childhood in such places as Milan (Italy), Connecticut (USA) and Cape Town (South Africa). She learned how to play the piano at an early age, and her love of music has continued into adulthood along with a love of books. After obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Cape Town, Kirsten spent a year in Israel and a few months in England. Returning to South Africa, she embarked on a career in computer programming and software development. She relocated to Canada in 2000, and shortly after that her interest in road running escalated, with the half-marathon becoming her favourite distance. She is currently working on completing her MBA and is the proud mother of George and James.
